Minister Cross-Culturally Among the Multitudes for Christ
New! Watch a Video of El Shaddai in Haiti
Empower your mission team in Word and Deed Ministry by immersing them in the culture of Miami and/or Haiti.
Join with Mission to North America and El Shaddai as we partner to establish firm foundations for the advancement of the Gospel in southern Florida, ministering to first and second generation Haitians. Every year, 40,000 Haitians come to North America. Currently more than 475,000 Haitians make southern Florida their home. MNA Haitian Ministries seeks to meet the needs of this growing people group by planting Gospel-centered Churches, offering practical support, and demonstrating Christ’s love.
Project Overview
PCA Pastor Dony St. Germain, El Shaddai Ministries and Mission to North America are aggressively engaged in a Haitian Church Planting Movement in Haiti and the United States. Our MNA ShortTerm projects are designed to assist in this great work. As stable, self-supporting churches are planted the Gospel is advancing. Prayerfully consider how you can partner with us in 2007.
ShortTerm Opportunities in 2007 in Miami
Construction teams. El Shaddai’s offices were destroyed by fire last fall as a result of Hurricane Wilma. This office building provided space for several Haitian church planters, administrative space for the El Shaddai School, a neighborhood library and computer lab for the schoolchildren and for adults from the community. Dony is formulating a plan to reconstruct this building and other buildings on the campus that are vital to the ministry. Volunteer teams may be able to assist in this. The repair of local homes and church buildings allows the development of lasting relationships with the Haitian people.
Day camp/mercy ministry combo. Mornings are invested in teaching first and second generation Haitian children and in the afternoon serving the local community in various physical mercy ministries. Backyard Bible Clubs, VBS, and teaching ESL are all possibilities.
Sports clinics. Coaching Haitian youth provides many opportunities to strengthen our relationship with local families and make new friends. About 75 percent of the people who come to the churches come through developed relationships with family members or friends.

ShortTerm Opportunities in 2007 in Haiti
Construction Teams. Workers who have construction skills and construction apprentices are needed to help build schools and churches in the communities in the region south of Port-au-Prince. Other projects include repairing homes damaged by flooding in 2005. We are also helping with construction projects that enable churches and schools to be self-sustaining by ownership of profit centers, businesses that create jobs and income for the depressed communities.
Medical Teams. Health care professionals are in severe shortage in Haiti, and teams are needed to work in local medical clinics. Can you bring a team of healthcare workers or join in with a team that is already being formed?
VBS and backyard Bible clubs. If your team is already doing this type of ministry in your church, it is easy for your team members to teach the same material in Haiti. Some churches order enough material for both the US and Haiti at the same time to reduce costs. Others have created their own materials.
Drama and puppet ministry. A great way to interact with the children (and adults).
Cost
Per Person: $475—This includes resource materials, housing and lodging, and air travel and local transportation while in the country—everything you will need while participating. Fees are paid directly to El Shaddai Ministries. Mission to North America does not receive administrative fees for participation on any projects. We want you to use God’s money for ministry.

What Others Have Said
“In the beginning, we were able to plant a church for $15,000. To make a living, the church pastor worked the land in some way–one pastor built a fish farm, another grew roses, another raised pigs. Last year, we gave money to build bakeries. We built three bakeries for $20,000-$30,000 each. Right now, we are helping to build three new churches with bakeries for $35,000 each. In this way, all the churches are self-supporting. Three years ago, we helped purchase an ice factory in Haiti. Its profits are going toward building a church facility in Cayes that will seat 5,000 people and will be the only air-conditioned building in the city. We also were able to provide equipment for a filtered water well in front of this church. Each day, 700 or more people line up to get free filtered water.”
