Welcome

David Peterson Greetings, and thank you for your interest in the MNA Chaplain Ministries. My name is David Peterson, and I am the Chaplain Ministries Coordinator. I hope that you find this web site helpful in learning about how this vital ministry serves God and our men in uniform. And I pray that you refer the site to friends and acquaintances who may be considering the Lord's calling into this field.

The work of military chaplains is much like civilian pastors. Seminary-educated and ordained, they preach sermons, offer comfort, teach Bible studies, provide counseling and lead people to the Lord. Yet they differ from their civilian brothers in one distinct way. They work daily with the people they pastor. They are always close by in the field, on ships, in offices, hospitals and prisons. Serving side by side with enlisted men, they have unique opportunities to influence and change lives. Often they're on hand at times when these men and women are hurting and most receptive to the Gospel message. They also counsel with children and families of service personnel across the nation and around the world.

The military is a rich mission field, and we must make the most of the opportunity. Currently, about 150 PCA chaplains serve in the military, both active and reserve. A number of others minister in Veteran's Administration hospitals, the Civil Air Patrol, retirement centers and prisons. Considering that the PCA is a relatively small denomination, we are fortunate to have so many. But we need more!

There is still a great need, not only for additional men prepared to enter the service immediately, but also for seminary students for the Chaplain's Candidate Program. To build up the ranks, I often visit campuses and speak at churches and other gatherings. To support these recruitment efforts, as well as many other functions of MNA Chaplain Ministries, we need your participation, both your prayers and your gifts. In return, you will be encouraged and blessed.

We Invite Your Participation
MNA Chaplain Ministries is enlisting congregations to sponsor our military active duty, Veteran Affairs and Prison Chaplains. Our goal is to enlist three sponsoring congregations for every chaplain who is separated geographically from his home congregation and presbytery. The sponsorship program seeks to enlist prayer support for the sponsored chaplain, his ministry and his family. The chaplain, in turn, commits to providing the sponsoring congregation a quarterly update and specific prayer requests. Subject to the approval of the sponsoring church's session, we request that the chaplain be mentioned once a month during the pastoral prayer. In addition, if possible, we request that the congregation be informed of the chaplain's ministry and prayer needs. Subject to the availability of funds and approval of the Session, Missions Committee, and thus the congregation, sponsoring congregations are requested to include MNA Chaplain Ministries in their annual budget. If additional information is needed about the Sponsorship Program please contact our office at 678-825-1251 or you may reach us by e-mailing chaplainministries@pcanet.org.

Please join with us in supporting and encouraging Chaplain Ministries. May God’s grace and mercy be powerfully demonstrated through our military and civilian chaplains. We ask you to prayerfully consider participating with us through your financial support. You can make a tax-deductible contribution to this ministry online. You can also mail contributions, made payable to Mission to North America, to:
